Rice bran oil - it's purpose?

Rice Bran Oil is mainly used in performance horses, to keep a glossy coat and to maintain a consistant weight. It has a higher fat content then other grains and hays. One cup of oil equals about .85 pounds of rice bran. The only problem is that it can be hard to tell when it goes bad, and rancide rice bran oil can make a horse sick.
