Is Gidget really being redone?

I hate when they take clic movies and redo them! I just heard that they would be using Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus. I don't know if the rumors are true but I hope not. If they want to do something why not just make a film about Gidget's daughter or something not try and remake the great movie. So is it true?
