What are some interesting things to look at through a telescope?

I'm taking an Astronomy lab and one of our ignments is an observation report. I need to observe 7 celestial objects from the observatory. I'm probably going to do some of the obvious things like the moon, Polaris and maybe Orion's nebula. What planets are visible from the northern hemisphere right now? And what are some other cool things I can check out? Web links are always appreciated!
