I hate my college taster day. what should I do?

So I had my taster day at sixth form college. It's really crowded and I didn't know anyone. I'm REALLY shy, and the only people i did talk to were a few people, who didnt have any other people with them and were very awkward and not attractive. I don't want to get stuck in with that kind of crowd when i go. I dotn know what to do. shoudl I try it in september? I still want to meet new people, but people have already come with friends and i dont have the confidence to into a big group of girls. or should I go back to my high school? I wont have many friends there,, but at least I'll have people to be with at break....I really wnat to make a new place for myself, I'm just not sure how, or if i can in a really crowded college? :')
