Why does everyone think Catholicism is a cult?

I've talked to many people (non Catholic) and they almost all say that Catholicism is a cult. I am Catholic, and for every reason that others propose to argue that Catholicism is a cult seems to be a misunderstanding or false stereotype. So to all non Catholics, why do you think Catholicism is a cult?
