How do US Christians feel about the secularist messages being placed on NY buses? Tolerant or vehement?

I'm a Brit trying to ess how strong Christianity is the US. My daughter and her American husband live in Carolina and none of her in-laws have strong religious feelings. So how much impact are these Ad's going to have?
